A sat is also called a satoshi and is the smallest unit of Bitcoin. One Bitcoin is 100,000,000 Satoshis aka. Sats. That means you don't have to buy a whole bitcoin, you can purchase parts of it. This is an advantage over other assets such as stocks, as you can only buy stocks as a whole and not in parts.
